Hand-tufted triptych in leftover yarn
for Filippa K, PC Hooftstraat 125, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The piece is a site-specific triptych created for Filippa K’s store at PC Hooftstraat 125 in Amsterdam. It is installed at the back of the store’s ground floor, in the more secluded area of the fitting rooms, where contrasts in texture are a recurring theme.

The tufting is made from leftover yarns from previous Filippa K collections. The variation in yarn length and texture creates a painterly surface, where imperfection is allowed to take center stage. The lines follow an organic flow that both holds together and expands across the surface.

The materials’ origin gives the piece a close relationship to the body and to clothing, while the surface invites contemplation. In contrast to the mirrors in the room, a sense of seclusion is created – as if the piece frames a state of being, a fleeting impression that unfolds over the course of a few minutes.
